MacGourmet, Releases and the Mac App Store
23 August 2011
Just to let people know what’s going on with the Mac App Store versions of MacGourmet: I’ve been getting email (understandably) from people wondering when the latest version of MacGourmet and MacGourmet Deluxe will finally be available from the Mac App Store. Well, to be honest, I wish I could say.
Version 3.1.1 was never released in the MAS. Because of a hidden file within one of Apple’s own frameworks, it wouldn’t pass their verification. It took over 4 weeks and many email messages to finally get information from them that resolved the issue, and by that time, version 3.1.2 was nearly ready.
Version 3.1.2 was submitted on August 2nd, the same day it was released on the web. Now, over 3 weeks later, it’s still in review. When will it be approved? I have no way of knowing. It’s even possible, either for a valid or invalid reason, for it to be rejected and to have to start the whole process over again. Welcome to the Apple model of software distribution, where developers no longer know when, or even IF their product will be released.
It’s my hope that we’ll see approval soon. Thanks for your patience Mac App Store customers!
[Update] Another week, and two rejections later (for things that passed in the past but now don’t) and I’m still waiting for Apple’s approval for the same version you can download and buy from the web site. Currently disputing the reason for the last rejection.
[Update 8/29] Yea! Finally, at least the regular version now approved for sale. Still waiting on Deluxe now though…
[Update 9/6] Deluxe 3.1.2 is now also finally available from the Mac App Store.
