Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I transfer my data from the trial/MacGourmet store version of MacGourmet to the Mac App Store version?
A: So, you’re a current user of MacGourmet, or you downloaded it to try it, and you want to buy the latest version from the Mac App Store (MAS). One question you might have is: how do I get my data from a previous/trial version to the Mac App Store version.
Here are the basics: due to requirement specifications set by Apple, the Mac App Store version of MacGourmet stores your database file, a file named MacGourmet3Database, in the Library/Application Support/MacGourmet folder found in your user home folder in the Finder Places list.
The non-MAS version of MacGourmet stores your data in Documents, or in the location you chose to keep the file the first time you ran the application.
So, to convert from the non-MAS version of MacGourmet to the MAS version, you just need to either move/copy this file from Documents to the MacGourmet folder in Application Support, or you can change the database location in the MAS version.
To change the database location, just go to Preferences > Advanced and press the “Change” button. Browse to the folder that contains your MacGourmet3Database and press the “Open” button. Restarting MacGourmet should now load your data from the folder you selected, instead of the default Application Support location.
